The Reference Fast Trend Line (RFTL) is a sophisticated indicator designed for traders using MetaTrader 5. Think of it as a response from FLF-1 and FLF-2 digital filters to the input discrete sequence, with a delay that aligns with the Nyquist TNi range.
RFTL Filter Coefficients
You can think of the RFTL reference line as a more advanced version of simple moving averages (SMAs). While both serve similar purposes, the RFTL offers a unique time-sensitive advantage due to its response time. If we were to use an impulse parameter with 1/N weights, we would achieve a smoother dotted moving average rather than relying on the more complex FLF impulse parameters.
