Hey traders! Today, we’re diving into the world of Market Profile, a tool that can really elevate your trading strategy.

What is Market Profile?

Market Profile is an indicator that helps you visualize price action and volume over specific time periods. It essentially organizes price data in a way that makes it easier to identify key support and resistance levels.

Key References for Market Profile

  • E. Naiman - The Way to Financial Freedom
  • J. Piper - The Way to Trade

The author of this tool has color-coded the trading sessions to make things clearer:

  • Yellow: Asian Session
  • Blue: European Session
  • Red: American Session

It displays results on the M30 and M15 time frames, which are quite popular among day traders.

Parameters You Need to Know

  • StartDate: This is used for backtesting; it determines the starting point for drawing the profile.
  • lastdayStart: If set to 'true', it will draw the profile up to the last day, effectively ignoring the StartDate.
  • CountProfile: This parameter lets you set how many profiles you want to draw on your chart.

The mode is displayed in white, and it’s important to note that volume isn’t always considered in this indicator. While there are instances where volumes are factored in, I find that it matches up around 99% of the time. In my opinion, volume isn't as critical when trading Forex.

Happy trading, and may your decisions be informed and profitable!
