If you're diving into the world of trading, you've probably heard about moving averages. But did you know that moving averages can be customized in a way that suits your trading style? The Imp_MA indicator for MetaTrader 4 is here to help you do just that!

What is Imp_MA?

The Imp_MA indicator takes the classic moving average and adds a twist. While traditional moving averages rely on a fixed set of price constants, this nifty modification allows you to calculate your moving average based on any combination of the four main prices: close, open, high, and low.

Input Parameters:

  • MA_Period: This is the period you want to use for calculating your indicator.
  • MA_Shift: This parameter determines the indicator's position relative to your chart.
  • MA_Method: Choose your averaging method: 0 for SMA, 1 for EMA, 2 for SMMA, and 3 for LWMA.
  • Close_coef: This coefficient represents the influence of the CLOSE price.
  • Open_coef: This coefficient reflects the OPEN price’s influence.
  • High_coef: This coefficient indicates the HIGH price’s contribution.
  • Low_coef: This coefficient shows how the LOW price will play into your calculations.

Examples of Usage:

  • To calculate the indicator based solely on the OPEN price, set: Close_coef = 0, Open_coef = 1, High_coef = 0, Low_coef = 0.
  • If you want a WEIGHTED price calculation, you can use: Close_coef = 2, Open_coef = 0, High_coef = 1, Low_coef = 1.
  • For a custom price constant, you might set: Close_coef = 0, Open_coef = 7, High_coef = 25, Low_coef = 80. In this case, Price = (7 × Open + 25 × High + 80 × Low) / 112.

With the Imp_MA, you have the flexibility to create a moving average that aligns perfectly with your trading strategy. Just remember, if any coefficient is set below or equal to zero, that specific price won't factor into your calculations.
