Theory:

As traders, we often find ourselves wondering whether the market is in a calm state or experiencing a surge of volatility. While standard deviations can give us some insight, they don’t quite cut it when we need specific thresholds to determine market conditions. That’s where the Volatility Ratio indicator comes into play:

  • Values above 1 indicate a state of higher volatility.
  • Values below 1 indicate a state of lower volatility.

Usage:

Keep in mind that this indicator is not designed to signal market direction. Instead, it’s a tool for identifying volatility levels. To gauge trends, you’ll want to pair this indicator with a trend analysis tool. Once you assess the trend, check the Volatility Ratio to ensure the market conditions align with your expectations.

Happy trading, and may your charts be ever in your favor!
