If you're diving into automated trading, you might want to check out this Smoothing Average EA designed for MetaTrader 4. It primarily relies on a single moving average indicator, where the entry and exit points are determined by a specific 'smoothing factor'—essentially a fixed number of pips above or below the moving average.

This EA is designed to open only one position at a time and doesn't currently feature stop loss, take profit, or trailing stop functions. Keep in mind, these might be added in future updates, but for now, it’s straightforward.

Testing Results:

Take a look at the results from a backtest over a five-year period. Interestingly, the same settings yielded decent results over a ten-year span from 2005 to 2015!

The standard settings are tailored for the 1-hour chart on EURUSD, but don’t hesitate to tweak them for any currency pair or timeframe that suits your trading style.

The long-term vision for this EA is to ensure profitability over an extended period—ideally five years or more—with minimal complexity.

I’m keen to hear your thoughts and feedback, so feel free to share. Happy trading!
